Causes of Obesity

Obesity is a complex, hard to treat and chronic disease. There are many sociological, cultural, psychological, genetic and environmental factors playing role in obesity. The main cause of obesity is the excessive calorie intake. Processed foods, lack of physical activity and emotional eating increase the intensity of the problem in addition to taking in excess calories.
Sudden changes in patient’s life, their reactions to the incidents and the attitude of family and friends towards the patient have an impact on obesity and the intensity of the problem. Especially individualization and loneliness, increasing gradually, create an emotional relationship with food. Advancing technology and easy access to food make it worse. Those with genetic disposition should be much more careful about obesity. Obesity rates are around 80% in individuals whose parents are both obese.

• Insufficient physical activity,
• Desk jobs,
• Irregular sleep, insomnia,
• Sociocultural factors
